This quote has long been on my mind as I have often thought of myself as someone who could very easily be thought of as a witch in terms of what it meant back in olden times: a woman who does not conform to expectations in some way, whether that be through speaking passionately & being heard, refusal to partake in societal norms like marriage/obeying men/having children, or even just women who didn’t conform to the right brand of Christianity, etc. It's the ever so timely "Childless Cat Lady" bullshit that paints strong-willed, independent women as the villain. The quote resonates with me in a "the man trying to keep me down" sort of way, and inspires me to continue to grow personally and to do what I can to help other women, young and old, to overcome barriers and lift each other up.
