Welcome to Bruno Press
Bruno Press is more than just a print shop—it’s a place where art, history, and human connection come together. I’m on a mission to keep the craft of letterpress alive, not just by creating beautiful prints, but by teaching, sharing, and passing it on to those who appreciate the magic of ink on paper.
Printing is in my blood. Working on 100-year-old presses, carving blocks, setting type by hand—this isn’t just what I do; it’s what I love. But more than that, I love connecting with people, creating art that inspires, comforts, and makes spaces feel alive. Whether it’s a print that brings a smile every morning, a poster that sparks conversation, or a card that carries a heartfelt message, everything I make is meant to bring joy and meaning into the world.
At Bruno Press, we stand up for what matters. We celebrate creativity, community, and the power of the printed word. Through workshops, collaborations, and one-of-a-kind letterpress pieces, I want to share this craft with as many people as possible, making sure it continues to thrive for generations to come.
Come print with me, learn something new, and take home a little piece of history—made by your own hands.
This is letterpress, and this is Bruno Press.
WHO THE F*CK IS MARY C BRUNO?
Mary Bruno’s popular, old-school, analog letterpress art is a tool of her legacy — it tells stories, it connects people, it builds communities, it is modern magic. For 20 years, Mary has used her antique presses to connect with and unite modern humanity. Her humor and empathy intersect with her craft, creating art that shouts authenticity, honors tradition, teaches history, sparks laughter, evokes tears, and creates meaningful statements.
Mary’s bold, and sometimes irreverent, creativity hails from her small, rural studio in St. Joseph, Minn. Her humor shines in her line of irreverent greeting cards and her meticulous linoleum carving skills are captured in her fine art prints. Her work and knack for connecting people has been recognized in news media, books, and at events all over the United States. Clients have sought her creativity for special projects all over the world, her most recent being a 30-page scroll of The Rule of St. Benedict for a prominent Minnesota college being showcased across the US. The magnetic draw of her cause-related prints have generated thousands of dollars for charities — including the people of the Ukraine, Catholic Charities, and Planned Parenthood. She has spoken to crowds of all sizes over the years, including a regional TEDx event.
Even though Mary earned her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Printmaking from St. Cloud State University (St. Cloud, Minn), she never planned to own and operate a printshop. But, when her dad passed away suddenly in 2003, Mary's plans changed. She chose to carry his legacy through Bruno Press, where she learned to love the way ink smells, the way type feels, and the way the sun shines across her press in mid afternoon. She lives to carve lino blocks, set type, talk about printing with old-timers, teach the manual process to newbies, and be her best self while making the world a happier place.
